Intelligent Operations is a new organization within Finnair Digital, focused on accelerating the digital transformation of airline operations. We bring together expertise in technology, data, architecture, integrations, and operational development to build reliable digital capabilities that support operational workflows and decision‑making across the airline. We are now looking for a (Full Stack) Data Scientist to join our Intelligent Operations team at Finnair.

Role Responsibilities
  • Work with operational stakeholders and Digital teams to understand business needs, identify operational challenges, and translate them into data science, AI, machine learning, or optimization solutions.
  • Design, develop, validate, and deploy models and analytical solutions that support operational decision‑making.
  • Build scalable, maintainable, and production‑ready data science solutions using modern software engineering practices.
  • Develop clean, tested, and reusable code, applying test‑driven development principles where appropriate.
  • Contribute to MLOps practices, including model deployment, monitoring, observability, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure high standards for data quality, model validation, governance, and responsible use of AI.
  • Communicate findings, model outcomes, risks, and recommendations clearly to both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Support the continuous improvement of data science, AI, optimization, software development, and MLOps practices within Intelligent Operations.
Expectations
  • Master’s degree or higher in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Econometrics, Operations Research, or another relevant quantitative field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in data science, machine learning, operations research, or a similar analytical role.
  • Strong Python programming skills, good understanding of statistics, probability, optimization, and machine learning methods, and experience developing analytical, machine learning, or optimization solutions for real‑world business problems.
  • Interest in software development and production‑ready data science solutions, with familiarity in practices such as version control, testing, code quality, CI/CD, test‑driven development, model deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
  • Ability to assess data quality, validate analytical outputs, and apply responsible AI principles such as transparency, validation, and governance.
  • Practical problem‑solving mindset and ability to communicate findings, model outcomes, risks, and recommendations clearly to both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Experience with cloud‑based development, preferably AWS, aviation, airline operations, or another operationally critical environment is considered an advantage.
  • Fluency in English is required. Finnish language skills are considered an advantage.
