Arctic Instruments
Arctic Instruments is a deep tech spin‑off from VTT Technical Research Centre of Suomi with a global customer base. We make quantum‑limited parametric amplifiers, a superconducting technology that addresses one of the biggest challenges in quantum computing: high‑fidelity qubit readout. We are looking to further develop this cutting‑edge technology and distribute it among quantum computer builders and researchers to enable them in the race towards quantum utility.
Solutions Engineer
As a Solutions Engineer, you work in our cryotesting and customer solutions team. The team is responsible for our hardware product characterization, and it serves as a technical point of contact for our global customer base. In the Yritys’s cryogenic characterization facility in Espoo, Suomi, you operate specialized RF (radio‑frequency) instrumentation to validate the electrical performance of our microwave amplifiers. You then apply this technical know‑how to solve problems customers face, including guiding our clients through the installation and tune‑up of the amplifiers. You provide support primarily remotely but also at the customer’s site when needed. In parallel, you continue to work in internal cryo characterisation projects, which we believe is essential for ensuring that your technical know‑how remains up to date.
In this customer‑facing role, you are in an excellent Tehtävä to understand customer needs and challenges. You are expected to work closely with other engineers and sales to address any blind spots you identify (for example improving documentation).
The ideal candidate:
- Has a Master’s‑level degree in physics, electrical engineering, or related field.
- Has practical laboratory experience working with electrical devices/hardware, such as RF/microwave instrumentation.
- Has programming experience and is interested in learning about computer‑controlled measurement procedures.
- Has very good communication skills in English.
- Is available to travel on a monthly basis.
Additional, but by no means necessary, qualifications include experience with cryogenics and/or experience managing technical customer accounts.
We have significant flexibility in accommodating different levels of seniority in this role, so please don’t take the above too literally. For example, if you’re a microwave guru, we can certainly teach the cryogenics part to you! Or if you’re about to graduate with a PhD and feel too senior for this Tehtävä, please get in touch anyway.
