About your role
Phase1 is Orion's paid trainee programme designed for university students, bringing together a large and diverse group of talents from various fields every year. We are looking for a trainee to join the Operations Development team within the Global Operations unit. In this role, you will gain broad exposure to Orion's Global Operations unit, particularly the production environment, and take on meaningful responsibilities during the summer. We offer you the opportunity to challenge yourself with interesting and diverse tasks. Over the summer, you will also gain a comprehensive understanding of Orion's operations and the wide range of roles within our organization.
The Tehtävä is based in Espoo or Turku, but occasional travel between Orion's sites (e.g., Salo) may be required. A personal car is not necessary. The traineeship can start in May or early June and will continue until the end of August.
Your key responsibilities
Your tasks will focus on operational development and efficiency improvements across Global Operations, particularly in the production environment. The role includes data analysis, implementing improvement actions, and developing the work environment in line with 5S principles. You will also participate in various operational development projects as needed.

Our expectations
You are a second-year university student in Industrial Engineering and Management, Business, Bioinformatics, or a similar field.
You value the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the practical operations of the manufacturing industry.
You have strong general IT skills (including Excel and PowerPoint) and are comfortable working with data.
You have strong networking and collaboration skills.
Fluency in Finnish and English.
Additional technical skills are considered an advantage (especially Power BI). We also appreciate studies and/or experience related to production development principles and tools, such as Lean Six Sigma and/or general project management.
We expect the selected candidate to have an active, positive, and practical approach to work. You are a social person who works well with a wide range of people.

Unit description
Orion's Global Operations covers the entire pharmaceutical manufacturing process, from sourcing of raw materials to the manufacture of products, packaging and delivery to customers. We are also responsible for the industrialization of new products and product life cycle management.
In Global Operations we have approximately 1,600 professionals working in Production, our external supplier network (Externally Sourced Operations) and Fermion Oy (API manufacturing and marketing). In addition, the organization includes Supply Chain & Procurement, Technical Operations, Facility Management, EHS (Environment, Health and Safety), CPD&LCM (Commercial Product Development & Product lifecycle management) and Operations Development.
Operational Development is a team of approximately 25 professionals responsible for project-based improvement initiatives and the development and utilization of data and artificial intelligence capabilities in a global operating environment. The goal of our work is to reduce manual work, improve operational control, and enable deeper insights to support decision-making.
Based on the principles of Lean Six Sigma and Business Process Leadership, we focus on developing operational practices, culture, and production environments to strengthen productivity and cost-efficiency.
